Well, It’s Saturday, October 14th and we’re in the 6th day of this devastating wildfire. I have to think hard to remember what day of the week it is, not that it matters. I know there is not a single person who reads this that does not know multitudes of people who have been seriously impacted. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of those have lost their home, business, or worst yet a loved one. I cannot put into words how I feel from witnessing what is happening. But I do believe that we will overcome. It’ll take time but it will happen. The golf course has been unharmed to this point but has been closed. When we open for business will be a day to day decision. Please call the golf shop for details. God bless.
It’s late September which it means it’s time for greens aeration! We are planning to complete the process September 25th through the 28th. We will be charging 9 hole greens fees Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday when we will have 12 – 13 holes open for play each day. Thursday, September 28th, will have 18 holes open for play with 3 temporary greens being used. Beginning Friday of that week we will have 18 holes open for play with no temporary greens. 10 to 14 days later the greens should be rolling again. In the meantime don’t play as much break and hit ’em harder – maybe a lot harder!!! Some of our golfers have their best scores during this time due to the fact they don’t have to play as much break on their putts. Best of luck and thanks for your understanding during this dreaded, but necessary maintenance project.
Well folks you did it again! Thank you for making BV the “reader’s choice” for 2017 in the Press Democrat’s “Best Of” for the 5th consecutive year. We are lucky to have such loyal and supportive golfers. In appreciation (and also because it was such a huge success in August) we are extending our Sunday Special. You can walk 18 holes for only $35 and ride for $45 on any Sunday through the month of September. There are no restrictions. Please use our on-line booking engine to secure your time. There are never any additional fees associated when you book a time through our web site. Thanks again for your continued patronage.
Roll back of pricing on Sundays in August. You have to go all the way back to 2010 (the year the Giants began their tear of winning 3 World Series Championships in 5 years) to get these rates for Sunday golf. Walking 18 holes will cost you only $35 and riding will run you $45! No time restrictions or coupons needed. Your only requirement is that you book your tee time through this website. No booking fees are ever charged!
On Saturday, August 19th, from 2:00-5:00 PM, join Greg Anderson and members of the Bennett Valley Golf Course Team for a ‘Day on the Greens,’ which will be full of fun golf related activities, introduction to new programs and great golf destination vacations, as well as finding out what it takes to become a highly trained celebrity athlete. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Greg at email@example.com.
I would like to thank my friends Bob Borowicz, PGA Director of Golf, and Jim Knego, PGA Head Golf Professional, for welcoming me to Bennett Valley Golf Course. My first month was incredible with the combination of seeing old friends and making new one’s as I introduced the Greg Anderson Golf Academy. My May Special was a big hit, and the June allotment of programs and Father’s Day Gift Packages will sure to be popular. The Bennett Valley GC Instructional Plan showcases the programs that I currently have going and those exciting events that will take place in the near future.
Also included is a December 2017 trip to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. This will be my third annual trip to Bandon during this time of year. It’s always quite chilly, and it has rained quite hard on a day or two, but ultimately, for the price of the all-inclusive package, and with the lack of wind historically, I find this time of year to be the best option. This year I will be hosting 36 players, of which 12 are already spoken for as my returning guests. Please, if you have any interest in joining us this year, reach out to me as soon as possible. At that time I will explain all the details. It’s truly a great trip!
Hope to see you soon! In the meantime, Hit em’ long and straight!
– Greg Anderson, PGA Director of Instruction

Great going on a job well done.
And Oh – by the way – we just finished our semi-annual greens aeration process this AM, Thursday September 22nd as scheduled. Hopefully greens will be all the way back in 2-3 weeks. Maybe 3 to 4!!! Anyway, they’ll be fair in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your support.
We just completed our 2016 Scramble League on Saturday, September 10th, as team “Slice & Dice” (Tyson Saraceni and Sweet Lou Capuano) blew away the field with a score of 61 and won by 6 shots. Nice playing boys. The rest of you golfers “have a lot of work to do!” Thanks again for another great league that once again went way too fast. Click here for league winners and pay outs – and team managers be sure to swing by the golf shop to “allocate the merchandise gift certificate winnings”.
The Santa Rosa City 4-Ball Championships were held Saturday, June 18th & Sunday, June 19th. Dean Prince & his partner Bill Rich were dominant in the Senior Division winning by 9 shots over Mike Parnow & Terry McBroom. They shot a gross score of 65-67 for a total of 132. Nice playing to say the least. Rick Lippincott & his wife Maria shot a net 59 the second day to come storming back from 6 shots to win the 1st Flight in the Net Division over defending champs Anthony Sadorra & Jesse Almaras. “Team Maycock” (father and son team of Steve (dad) & Tim) had the low round of the tourney with a 58 on Sunday bouncing back from a net 72 on Saturday to take low honors by a single stroke over Tim Dearth & John Winter in the 2nd Flight Net Division. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all for making the Father’s Day weekend event a big success.
Drainage work is complete along hole #10. Thanks for your patience during this process. Fortunately the interruptions were minimal and the project was completed in a timely fashion.
If you’ve been out to BV this week you’ll notice that we’re beginning some work along hole #10 to improve the drainage. The project is expected to be completed around the first week in June. During this time we may need to “shorten up” the hole to a par 3 or par 4 length to help protect the workers. Your cooperating and support is appreciated.
We are hosting a fundraising tournament for The First United Methodist Church of Santa Rosa on August 5, 2016. Sign up by June 1 and receive 4 FREE Mulligans. Space is limited and on a first come first served basis. It’s going to be a great day. Click here for more information.
It’s hard to believe that we are already underway with both the women’s Sunset League and the Summer League. The first of week of April will “officially” mark the start to our “season”. We are very fortunate the weather has cooperated and we are extremely thankful for our awesome maintenance crew, both of which has enabled us to have the course in pretty darn good shape to get started. Our semi-annual aeration process has been put back to the week of April 18. Look for “special rates” during this time. Come out and enjoy!
We’re being optimistic about the weather in announcing the schedule for the “spring break” junior camps. We will be holding two 3-day sessions on the following dates: March 22, 23, & 24; March 29, 30, & 31. The classes will run from 10 – 1130 AM and the cost will be $75 per student. Please call the pro shop @ 528- 3673 for registration.
Happy New Year to all and hope everybody had a great Holiday Season. As of today, January 1, 2016, we are now accepting new members for our Annual Pass Program. We do issue a maximum number so if you are interested please contact Jim in the golf shop. Click here for a copy of the contract/agreement. Best of luck and looking forward to another great golf season. Who knows – maybe we will get some rain this winter. In the meantime get out and get “your golf on”.
Congratulations to Mike Vetter who was just recently crowned the 2015 Grand Prix Points Champion for the Bennett Valley Golf Club. Steve Urbanek was the runner up, Dean Silverlock was third, “Sweet Lou” Capuano finished fourth, and Tyson Saraceni rounded out the top five. All players are single digit handicaps – well not quite all – Vetter should be!!!! Great job guys. Mike’s handicap is going down as a result of his dominating season but he says there is a pretty good chance he will defend successfully. Game on!!!
Congrats to Reecy Casamajor (top) on capturing this year’s BVGC Ladies Club Championship. Reecy has been club champion dating all the way back 2006.
